A {DSDV}-based Multipath Routing Protocol for mobile Ad-hoc Networks

We develop a table-driven, multipath distance vector protocol for mobile ad-hoc networks. Specifi cally, we propose multipath extensions to a well known single path routing protocol known as Destination Sequenced Distance Ve ctor (DSDV). The resulting protocol is referred to as Multipath Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (MDSDV). The protocol guarantees loop freedom and disjointness of alterna tive paths. MDSDV finds disjoint paths which do not have any co mmon nodes between a source and destination. Two new fie lds called second hop and link-id are used to construct these disjoint paths. Each node maintains two tables which are Routing Table and Neighbours Table. Multipath routing can be used to achieve faster and efficient recovery from route failures in highly dynamic adhoc networks.
