Relationship between the shell height of the predatory moon snail Euspira fortunei and drilled hole diameter on the prey shell of Manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum

宮城県では,近年,サキグロタマツメタによるアサリ食害の被害が拡大している。その対策を行うためにも,サキグロタマツメタの生態学的特性を明らかにすることが非常に重要である。本研究では,サキグロタマツメタが自身の殻高に対してどの程度の殻長のアサリを捕食するかを明らかにするために,穿孔径とサキグロタマツメタの殻高の関係についての回帰式を得た。この式を基に,漁場のアサリ死殻から,捕食であるサキグロタマツメタの殻高を推定した。その結果,自身の殻高のおよそ 0.7~0.8 倍の殻長のアサリを主に捕食していると推定された。
