A Unified Approach for Optimal Design of 2-D FIR Filters Using Second-Order Cone Programming

A unified approach for the optimal design of two-dimensional (2-D) filters using second-order cone programming (SOCP) is proposed in this paper. The designing of 2-D FIR filters can be achieved by minimizing the frequency domain response error measure between the designed filter response and the desired one. Some other constraints can also be imposed in the passband or/and stopband to satisfy application-oriented requirements. These optimal design problems can be reformulated in convex optimization form as the SOCP and then solved efficiently via the well-established interior point method. The SOCP-based approach allows much more design flexibility compared with traditional approaches. Computer simulation results demonstrate the good performance of the proposed approach.
