Dynamic digital matched filter acquisition of DS receiver

A dynamic digital matched filter acquisition of a DS receiver is proposed and investigated. The stored spreading code is dynamically updated by a local spreading code generator based on the partial correlation results for the incoming spreading code. This new structure of matched filter provides a fast acquisition, as is usual with the conventional matched filters. Moreover, it is shown that the dynamic digital matched filter requires a very short device length or, equivalently, a low processing gain even for acquisition of a long spreading code. The probabilities of correct acquisition and false alarm in an AWG noisy channel and in a CDMA environment are measured by simulations. For both measures improvements are achieved by the dynamic digital matched filter.
