RARE TYPES OF MALIGNANT GASTRIC TUMORS

SUMMARY The Laboratory for Pathology of the Norwegian Radium Hospital has material for the period 1939–1954 comprising 1784 partially or totally gastrectomized stomachs with malignant tumors. Among these there are 21 cases, or 1.2 per cent, which are a distinct tumor type interpreted as hemangioendotheliomas. They are sufficiently well characterized pathologically to be diagnosed. The tumors exhibit a very moderate malignancy with a good prognosis. The pathology of these tumors, particularly their macroscopic features, histology and differential diagnostics are discussed, and the results of follow-up examinations are presented.
