Manufacturing cell supervisory control-a timed discrete event system approach

The authors propose an approach to workcell supervisory control strategy design based on the control theory for discrete event systems (DES). A framework for the modeling and supervisory control of timed DES is presented, in which the concept of forcing as a means of control is introduced, and where hard temporal behavior specifications may be treated. Within this framework, supervisory control strategies are designed according to production specifications and subject to control enforcement constraints.<<ETX>>
