Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Produced Water

Aromatic hydrocarbons are among the most abundant and toxic components of oil and gas well produced water. The objective of this paper is to present an overview of the bioaccumulation of aromatic hydrocarbons by marine animals, with emphasis on bioaccumulation of PAHs from produced water discharged to the ocean. The focus of this paper is on bioaccumulation data collected during recent monitoring studies in the U.S Gulf of Mexico.
