A Productivity Enhancement Study of the FMSO (Fleet Material Support Office) Software Effort.

Abstract : This is the report of the productivity enhancement study of the FMSO(Fleet Material Support Office) software development effort. This study is an initial effort to identify candidate projects for productivity improvements. The major recommendations in this report are: FMSC should begin work on a Development Tools System that will support computer programming work, documentation and software management; The physical facilities at FMSO are below the recognized standards for supporting a software development operation and should be upgraded; and Some areas of software management need to be improved. A better project planning and tracking system needs to be put in place. Generally, FMSO's software management effort is well directed.
