An Improved Method of Determining the Reference Port Characteristics of Six-Port Reflectometers

A new method of determining the reference port parameters of six-port reflectometers is presented. The method, resulting from geometrical considerations, can easily be implemented in several existing calibration schemes which do not use Engen's six-port to four-port reduction. The method prevents collapsing of calibration procedures due to inconsistent input data and improves accuracy by utilizing all information available.
