Simulation analysis on “9.19” ±800KV Jinpin-Suzhou DC bipolar block fault

The ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) that directly flown into the Jiangsu Power Grid has effectively alleviated the power shortage of Southern Jiangsu province, however, bipolar block fault of DC transmission system in high power mode may give rise to great impact on receiving-end power grid, and thus may severely affect security and stability of the large-scale power grid. In this paper, the process bipolar block fault of Jinpin-Suzhou DC system is presented, and its impact on Jiaugsu power grid is analyzed based on the PMU fault record. Utilizing the Dynamic Stability System (DSA) system of Jiangsu Power Dispatching and Control Center, a simulation analysis of the fault is given, and by comparing the simulation curve and PMU record data, the causes of differences between these two curves are analyzed. Advice on power grid operation, modeling and on-line simulation is given at last.
