The solution of steady-state chemical engineering optimisation problems using a random-search algorithm

Abstract The paper describes a random search algorithm (Controlled Random Search) for the solution of constrained non-linear minimisation problems. Its effectiveness in solving 13 chemical engineering steady-state optimisation examples is demonstrated.
