How to increase gas well production and temper corrosion. Part 1. Production system optimization

Corrosion costs the petroleum industry more than $900 million annually, including production downtime, chemical treatment costs, material replacement costs, and increased workover costs caused by additional time needed to retrieve partial tubing and repair damaged casing. This study addresses optimizing the production system by controlling such variables as flow rate, tubing size, flowing tubing pressure, temperature, perforation shot density, and production fluid composition. In addition, analysts present a model for calculating the limiting erosional velocity, which must be incorporated in any successful optimization program.
