Energy-efficient transmission of delay-limited bursty data packets over time-varying channels under non-ideal circuit power

This paper develops a novel approach to energy-efficient transmission schedule for delay-limited bursty data arrivals over time-varying channels under non-ideal circuit power consumption. Relying on optimization tools, the structure of the optimal strategy is revealed. Based on such a special structure, an efficient algorithm is then developed to find the optimal policy with a low computational complexity. The proposed approach provides the optimal benchmark for all the practical schemes designed for transmissions of delay-limited data arrivals over time-varying channels.
