Evaluating the RF-emissions of automotive cable harness

In this paper the problems of reproducibility of emission tests in automotive systems according to legal standards are discussed and some practical solutions are presented. A central point takes hereby the cable harness, as it is the main radiating element of the test set-up. Numerical field simulations show how an optimized cable harness layout may reduce the influence of geometrical deviations in the test set-up, so enhancing the reproducibility and providing more reliable tests for the component development process.
