A technical approach to achieve smart grid advantages using energy management systems

The smart grid is expected to be a key technology that improves the reliability of the power supply and reduces its impact on the global environment. Discussions on the smart grid have increased in Japan in line with efforts to maintain the balance of peak power demand and supply since the Great East Japan earthquake. Energy management systems (EMSs) for the home, buildings, communities, and data centers are being developed to achieve various services for the smart grid. These systems are expected to bring incalculable advantages throughout the world.
