A Self-Adaptive Method for Reducing of Computation Complexity on Video Decoding

Studying of the transform relation of resolution of frequency domain and that of time domain,a new video decoding method is proposed to reduce the computation complexity based on the self-adaptive reduction of dimension IDCT.According to the number of non-zero coefficients within one DCT block,down-sample the DCT block.Then the IDCT of reduction of dimension is carried out to the down-sampled block.Through inserting values linear in time domain,decoding is completed.The time saved by IDCT of reduction of dimension compensates the time consumed by inserting values,and still makes the whole decoding time greatly reduced.Test result indicates,this decoding method can save time by 60%-80%,but [PSNR] losses are only 0.3~0.7 dB.
