Large-Scale Passive Radar Cluster Operation

Passive radar can be easily extended from single sensor operation to sensor cluster networks, because the bistatic measurements from different pairs of transmitters and receivers can be combined with the same cartesian Kalman filter process. For target initialization the different receiver positions lead to more complex ellipsoid cutting geometries. Hensoldt has conducted a measurement campaign with four stations so that in the following the contribution and properties of the single sensor types can be presented besides the achievable coverage and accuracy of the global sensor fusion. The single sensors itself have been enhanced with new receivers, software modes like DVB-T2 and network interface for exchanging target data, monitoring and control.
