A formal AIN Service Creation, Feature Interactions Analysis and Management Environment: An Industrial Application

Some of the major difficulties in developing practical tools using formal methods to analyze and manage feature interactions include: • the significant upfront investment that is required to develop and verify a formal model for the AIN architecture before any interaction analysis can be carried out • the time consuming process of formally specifying a feature that requires a user to have a significant expertise in the formal technique used as well as the AIN domain knowledge • the complexity of the service model due to the exponential nature of features composition This paper outlines our current and ongoing work on the development of an integrated environment to support AIN service creation, feature interaction analysis and management using formal methods. We have developed a detailed process for service description and specification supported by a comprehensive set of methodology and tools that overcome the major problems outlined above.
