Slope stability estimation using GIS

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Decision Support Systems (DSS) offer help with natural hazard and risk zonation mapping (Burrough and McDonnell, 1998). GIS is able to: Organize spatial data, Visualise complex spatial relationships of a particular location, make a Spatial Query concerning the characteristics of a particular location, Combine datasets from different sources, Analyse the data (inferring meaning) and make Predictions by combining data layers according to purposely embodied rules (Bonham-Carter, 1997).
