SEPIC converter with 3-level NPC multi-level inverter for wind energy system (WES)

The Non-Conventional sources such as wind energy is environment friendly, cost effective electric source. This paper introduces the modeling and simulation of wind energy conversion system using boost and SEPIC converter under variable supply conditions. These two wind energy system with boost and single ended inductor SEPIC converter are designed on MATLAB/SPS to simulate with three-level neutral point clamped inverter connected to grid. The lower harmonic component of generator has been decreased in SEPIC converter. As such, the output power of SEPIC converter is increased in comparison to boost converter, with NPC converter system from 4 to 8 %. The performance assessment of the SEPIC converter for improvement in the overall efficiency of WECS has been discussed and shown in terms of efficiency and harmonics component effect with boost converter.
