Research on Switch Machine Gap Monitoring System based on video monitoring technology

This thesis introduced the principle of the Switch Machine Gap Monitoring System based on the video monitoring and image processing technology. The System was developed by the method to achieve the function of storing and displaying gap data, and also giving an alarm if emergency happened. After being compressed, the digital video signals were transmitted to the monitoring room with the technology of power line and ADSL communication. The lens distortion was corrected after the camera was calibrated. To extract the gap edge, the image was processed with these algorithm including guassian filter, threshold segmentation, morphological convex hull, sub-pixel precision contours. According to the gap size, the real time state of switch machine gap was monitored on-line.
