Support of installed applications

Abstract A continuing problem with today's data processing organization is how to evolve a management structure that matches the technological advances of the system for which it is responsible. To synthesize the emerging role of a data processing organization within its corporate environment, attention is focused on three dimensions of the required organization — the user view divided by functional area; the technical view divided by area of expertise; and the organizational view divided by planning horizon. The conclusion is drawn that a single group should have responsibility for integrating and enhancement of all installed applications.
