Systems of coordinates associated with points scattered in the plane

Abstract We show how to generate systems of coordinate functions associated with points scattered in the plane by taking weighted averages of barycentric coordinate functions. We give two examples of such systems, one of which is equivalent to the system of natural neighbor coordinates when restricted to the convex hull of the scattered points.
