The M‐Meatoplasty of the External Auditory Canal

The M-meatoplasty is an operative technique to widen the external meatus in cases of chronic external otitis or plugging of earwax after collapse of the concha. It can be useful in combination with other techniques, such as tympanoplasty and widening of the bony canal, to facilitate postoperative care. It is an almost obligatory step in revision surgery of radical cavities. Properly performed modified or radical mastoidectomy includes a meatoplasty that does not need revision.
