Abstract The following article is a translation of Fra Leipzig til London taken from the Danish Artillery Journal published in issue No. 3, June 1959, pp. 61–79. The authors believe this article has historical value and unless translated is unlikely to be useful to students of rocketry. The article is a review of the early development of the rocket, as seen from Denmark. This paper is written to be read in conjunction with portions of Refs [1–3]. “… the very essence … of the Rocket System is the facility of firing a great number of rounds in a short time, or even instantaneously, with small means … the Rocket is a species of fixed ammunition which does not require ordnance to project it and which were apparatus required, admits of that apparatus being of the most simple and portable kind.”
