Information systems policy setting: Top management participation

Abstract Different issues that must be considered when setting an Information Systems Policy (ISP) are presented. These issues arise when the information systems (IS) development process is related to the development of the organizational decision making systems (DMS) that those IS are to support. According to our findings the planning for an ISP should start with a critical “business process analysis”. Based upon these relationships, we argue that top management should participate in the ISP setting.
