This paper is focused on the geometrical simulation of Electric Discharge Machining for die sinking processes. The simulation runs either on a personal computer or on a micro computing station and illustrates how tool wear and workpiece geometry progress during the machining. The initial hypotheses on which the simulation is based are firstly introduced and discussed. In a next paragraph, the simulation principles are highlighted and results are finally presented and discussed as well. Results are graphically represented and emphasize how tool wear varies as a function of the geometrical shape and as a function of time. This study reveals that EDM process simulation could hardly be mastered in the past but is now becoming reality.
