Li‐ion conducting organic‐inorganic hybrid electrolytes derived from TEOS and methacrylates

Li-ion conductive organic-inorganic hybrid electrolytes with the ionic conductivities of 10–3 - 10–2 Scm–1 have been prepared by sol-gel route from tetraethyl orthosilicate TEOS, poly(ethylene oxide), ethyl methacrylate, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, butyl methacrylate, organic solvents and lithium perchlorate (0.01 wt%). The results of morphology and structure investigation by scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and 29Si MAS Nuclear Magnetic Resonance have revealed strong influence of organic modifications, resulted in direct chemical bonds between organic and inorganic components and poly-condensation process overlapped with crosslinking polymerization in hybrids prepared with ethyl methacrylate.
