Research on Fine Granular Scalable Coding

With the development of Internet and wireless network,a great deal of video data need to be transmitted over network.It make the goal of video and image coding changed .Traditional video coding is for storage.The major task of the video coding techniques for storage-based applications is how to improve the coding efficiency.However,transmitting digital video over network had to deal with two major problem:bandwidth variations and tolerate rtansmitted errors besides the requirements in highet coding efficiency . This paper focus on the research on Fine Granular Scalable Coding. Experment results show that FGS increased the compression ratio and raised the compression efficiency.
