This study examines the influence of cultural differences on multi-national and multi-organizational scientific collaboration in collaboratories. It is found that the impact of cultural differences interplays with other social and economic factors such as project funding, scientists' own perception of their role within the project, and national policy. Practical implications of the study are also suggested.
