A PRESSURE INTEGRATION TECHNIQUE FOR HYDROSTATIC ANALYSIS

The theory for calculating the hydrostatic characteristics of an arbitrary body by integrating the pressures over its submerged surface is presented. The theory describes a transformation of surface integrals to volume integrals which allows conventional naval architectural quantities to be derived directly from the integration of surface pressures. The theory is implemented in a general purpose program which can compute the hydrostatic characteristics of an arbitrary intact or damaged floating body after the body surface has been input as a series of panels.
