Using MODIS Imagery to Map Sea Surface Temperature

Sea surface temperature (SST) is a very important factor for ocean ecosystem and global climate change study. In this paper, the utility of MODIS data for analyzing sea temperature field was examined in Yellow Sea and East China Sea. Using a set of processing procedures, MODIS images were import to the model to map the sea surface temperature. The results were compared with the synchronous in-situ data. This study demonstrates that this model can be used to derive sea surface temperature with very high accuracy.
