Fiber-optic angular sensor with interleaved channel spectra.

The angular position of a polarizer determines the power ratio of two light beams with interleaved channel spectra, filtered from a broadband light-emitting diode. The beams are transmitted simultaneously through a 750-m-long multimode fiber and then analyzed. An angular resolution of 0.5 degrees over a 70 degrees range is obtained, independently of the attenuation of the fiber link.
