THE EFFECT OF SOME SUBSTITUTED METHYLUREAS ON THE RESPIRATION OF CHLORELLA VULGARIS VAR. VIRIDIS

While assessing the possibilities of using Chlorella vulgaris var. viridis as a rapid test of phytotoxicity of chemicals it was noticed that the herbicide 3-parachlorophenyl-I:idimethyl urea (CMU) and some of its derivatives, markedly inhibit growth. The effect of the composition of the culture medium on the inhibitory effects of these compounds on growth and their influence on the respiration of this organism have been studied.
