Efficiency Evaluation of Laser Based Wireless Power Transmission System

The laser based wireless power transmission (LWPT) system is one of the most promising system in the long- range wireless power transfer field. However, there have been few studies focused on the efficiency characteristics of the LWPT system. Therefore, it is difficult to make the best use of laser and PV array in the system. In this digest, the efficiency characteristics of laser and PV array under different operation modes are investigated. The results have shown that the duty cycle of laser input current is one key factor to improve the system efficiency. Therefore, by controlling the duty cycle of laser input current, it can offer a chance to explore the best performances of the system.
