Evaluation of MU-MIMO based access techniques with fairness consideration

In wireless communications, spectrum is a scarce resource that needs to be efficiently exploited so as to meet the increasing demand of different services. In order to serve multiple user equipments (UEs) simultaneously, they should be multiplexed on the same spectrum or assigned a portion of the whole bandwidth. How can one UE access the limited spectrum is determined by the access technique used in node B (NB). This paper evaluates the performance of two commonly used access techniques, namely orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and space division multiple access (SDMA). The performance for combining them in one system is also investigated.
