Culture: Yes; Organization; No!

Abstract : Culture is defined as content that is characteristic of and/or peculiar to a group. Current interest in the cultures in and of organizations has focused on the content, and overlooked the boundaries of those contents; that is, the group to which the content is peculiar. This paper offers illustrations of the hazards of overlooking the boundaries of workplace cultures. It outlines what is entailed in taking seriously issues of boundary, as well as content of culture in work settings. (Author)
