Corrosion of aluminium in pure marine atmospheres

This paper reports atmospheric corrosion of aluminium in pure marine atmospheres without simultaneous sulphur dioxide pollution. Three Antarctic atmospheres have been included in this group, though with a special consideration due to their climatic singularity. From the results obtained a critical deposition rate threshold (20 mg Cl - .m -2 .d -1 ) is inferred for atmospheric salinity in pure marine atmospheres, after which the atmospheric corrosion of this material is intensified.
