Becasue PM exhausted from diesel-fuelled vehicles reduces the sight distance and affects the human body very much, the emission regulations of the developed foreign countries including South Korea have been strict, and especially the importance for the PM considering the harmfulness of human bodies is increasing. Due to the various technologies such as high pressure injection and DPF(Diesel Particulate System), the PM emissions have been decreased considerably, but it has not been proved that these technologies reduce the PM emissions. So, those countries made UNECE GRPE(Group of Expert on Pollutant and Energy) PMP(Particulate Measurement Program)and are planning the new emission regulation standards. For this, South Korea takes part in the JRC(Joint Research Center of European Commission) project together with England, Germany, France, Italy and Japan and has measured the PM exhausted diesel-fuelled vehicles.
