A Study on a Possibility of Ball Detection in Sport Games : A Preliminary Verification Using Radar Measurements

The paper presents preliminary results of an experimental study on ball detection in sport games using radar systems. This work focuses on laboratory measurements in bands up to 18GHz and radar measurements using FMCW radars operating in C and K-Bands preceded with theoretical study on modeling the reflective properties of the ball. The results were compared with these theoretical expectations leading to practical guidelines for modeling this type of targets in a radar system design.
