Optical OFDM for 100 Gbit/s

Optical OFDM systems are investigated for application at 100 Gb/s bitrate. First the spectral efficiency (SE) of O-OFDM signals is derived including the overheads required for signal reception. If applying polarization multipex 3.3 bit/s*Hz are feasible allowing transmission in the 50 GHz WDM grid. Finally the transmission characteristics, sensitivity and nonlinear limitations are considered enabling the transmission beyond 1000 km distance.
