Dispersion map optimization in hybrid Raman/erbium-doped fiber amplifier-based 40-Gb/s link

We report on dispersion map optimization in hybrid Raman/erbium-doped fiber amplifier-based links with different types of in-line fibers and dispersion-compensating fibers. The results show that the linear relationship between precompensation and in-line cumulated dispersion depends on Raman gain and can be explained by the power profile approach.
