A Novel Design Method of Single-phase Inverter Controller Based on CPLD

This paper proposes a novel design method for single-phase inverter controller with complex programmable logic device (CPLD). With the development of electronics science and technology, CPLD is becoming one of the most popular solutions for the design of control unit with complex function and algorithm. CPLD has a lot of advantages, such as high speed, flexibility control and convenient programming, and it can even be used as a solution for some digital signal processor (DSP) applications. This paper introduces a new method to design control core using CPLD. The designed controller unit consists of four main modules, the proportion integration (PI) module, the hybrid pulse width modulation (HPWM) module, the sine wave generator module, and the triangle wave generator module. The simulation and experiment results which confirm the validity and performance of the controller are shown in the paper.
