Packet-based wireless communication system having enhanced timing synchronization and a method for the same

A timing synchronization-improved packet-based wireless communication system and its method are provided to perform effective timing synchronization without having to increase a sampling frequency or add a supplementary element. A signal receiving unit(10) receives an external signal. A signal sampling unit(20) outputs a sampling value obtained by sampling input signals provided from the signal receiving unit(10) at certain time intervals. A memory(50) stores a look-up table including a primary reference signal set previously set to detect a packet start point of the input signals and a plurality of secondary reference signal sets having a certain phase difference from the primary reference signal set, and receives and stores the sampling value. A packet searching unit(30) compares the primary reference signal set and the input signal to detect a corresponding packet. A reference signal selecting unit(40) compares a sampling value of the detected packet and the primary reference signal set and the plurality of secondary reference signal sets to select a reference signal set most similar to the sampling value, re-sets the selected reference signal set as a symbol reference signal for determining a data symbol of an input packet, and stores it in the memory(50).
