Message from GreenCom 2016 General Chairs

Welcome to the 12 IEEE International Conference on Green Computing and Communications (GreenCom 2016), Chengdu, Sichuan, China, December 16-19, 2016. As the general chairs for GreenCom 2016, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all the participants. Computer networks, communication systems, and other IT infrastructures have caused severe environmental problems by consuming significant amounts of power, increasing greenhouse gas emissions, and lead to pollution during the production and disposal. To reduce such environmental problems and create a sustainable environment, new energy models, algorithms, methodologies, platforms, tools and systems are pressing. Thus, green computing and communications solutions should be designed with more renewable energy, higher energy efficiency, lower greenhouse gas emission, and less harmful materials. The 12 IEEE International Conference on Green Computing and Communications (GreenCom 2016) will be an exciting international forum for scientists, engineers, and researchers to exchange their novel works regarding advancements in the state-of-art of green computing and communications, as well as to identify the emerging research topics and open issues for further researches. GreenCom 2016 is held jointly with the 9 IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things (iThings 2016), the 9th IEEE International Conference on Cyber, Physical, and Social Computing (CPSCom 2016), the 2016 International Conference on Smart Data (Smart Data 2016), as well as the APEC Smart City Innovation & Technology Cooperation Forum. The conference has attracted quite large numbers of submissions. Each paper was peer reviewed by at least three program committee members. The final decision has been taken after a high quality review process. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Program Chairs (Prof. Weigang Hou, Prof. Xuetao Wei, and Prof. Qiang Guan), and Program Committee members for their effective work and great efforts. We also appreciate a lot the cooperation, guidance, and help from the Steering Committee, the Publicity Chairs, the Finance Chair, the Local Chair and Executive Chairs. The support from IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (TCSC), Tsinghua University Press, and University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, China are also greatly appreciated. Finally, we thank you for contributing to and/or participating in IEEE GreenCom 2016, and hope you find the conference a stimulating and exciting forum and at the same time enjoy the beautiful Chengdu, China.
