Scalable Dimension-, Weight- and Cost-Modeling for Components of Electric Vehicle Powertrains

The authors present a model that determines the dimensions, weight and costs of drive-units for electric vehicle powertrains. It represents electric motors and transmissions and is based on analytical design processes that calculate the component dimensions. The assignment of materials and manufacturing processes identifies the weight and the production costs. The main application of the model is powertrain design optimization where an automated determination of these properties is important. Finally, the authors present a model validation with data of existing components. It indicates a valid model behavior.
