Single vent-line design selected for diverter system

The author describes a diverter system on a drilling rig installed on Butoil's Clyde platform in the North Sea. The system has a single straight vent line. The article explains why this type of diverter unit is used and the alternative that were considered. In the past, dual vent systems were used, however, they resulted in a high frequency of system failures.
