Sistema FOQuE para Expansão Semântica de Consultas Baseada em Ontologias Difusas

As availability of data has been growing, it is becoming even more necessary to develop effective techniques to retrieve the desired information, in order to reduce irrelevant answers and ensure that relevant results are not igno- red. In this sense, this paper presents the FOQuE system, developed to perform semantic query expansion based on fuzzy ontologies, making possible to retri- eve approximate results that satisfy user requirements according to expansion parameters defined by him. The additional answers retrieved by the FOQuE system are classified regarding both the semantic expansion performed and the relevance to the query, therefore improving the way results are presented to the user. Resumo. Diante da crescente facilidade de acesso aos dados, cada vez mais sao necessarias tecnicas eficazes para recuperar a informacao desejada, vi- sando reduzir respostas irrelevantes e assegurar que resultados relevantes nao sejam desprezados. Neste sentido, este artigo apresenta o sistema FOQuE para expansao semântica de consultas baseada em ontologias difusas, que permite recuperar resultados aproximados que satisfacam aos requisitos do usuario, de acordo com parâmetros de expansao definidos por ele. As respostas adicionais recuperadas pelo sistema FOQuE sao classificadas conforme o tipo de expan- sao realizada e a relevância para a consulta, melhorando, assim, a forma como os resultados sao apresentados ao usuario.
