EVALUATION OF DECISION RULES FOR SITE-SPECIFIC N-FERTILIZATION IN STRIP TRIALS

Due to its economic potential, Variable Rate Technology (VRT) for nitrogen (N) fertilization has received enduring attention, but economic assessments are difficult to conduct. A great share of economic success is determined by the implementation of site-specific decision rules (algorithms for N-application). To assess the quality of decision rules a field trial was conducted. Interpreting results is difficult for different reasons. A method is proposed to establish a benchmark for assessing the quality of decision rules enabling a better understanding of the results.
