A comparison between hydrogenic and Thomas–Fermi expectation values

The Z dependence of various expectation values is studied for pure and screened hydrogenic atomic models. These results are compared to the corresponding Thomas–Fermi and Hartree–Fock values, providing insight into the transiton from the regular, exponentially decaying densities of real atoms to the Z→∞ Thomas–Fermi limit.
